Cupping Notes

Enticing fragrance of chocolate, sugary sweetness, and sugarcane, leading to a flavourful experience of chocolate, caramel, and vibrant citrus tropic fruits. Lingering aftertaste of chocolate and brown sugar, complemented by bright citrus acidity and a creamy body.

The Planadas area is home to 48 coffee-producing hamlets, encompassing 6,821 small farms ranging from 0.5 to 6 hectares. Renowned for producing some of Colombia’s finest Specialty Micro-lot coffees, these communities are now gaining recognition for their higher quality commercial coffees. Tolima, nestled in the Central Colombia Andes mountains between the Parques Nacionales Natural Nevado and the Parque Nacional Natural Cordillera De Los Pichachos Andes Mountain ranges, is one of Colombia's most isolated coffee-producing regions. Accessible primarily through the town of Coyaima via dirt roads, it's a challenging 12-hour journey from Ibague, the provincial capital.

For years, this area was controlled by the FARC, leaving it isolated and subject to their rules. Farmers were restricted to selling their crops to either the FNC or local trilladoras, receiving only commercial prices at best.

At altitudes ranging from 1600 to 2000 meters, the true high-quality Specialties are found. Enriched volcanic soils and fresh mountain streams contribute to the unique terroir of the region.
